copies over the next 18 months but attracted reviewers and leading to television interviews for Elie and
meeting with legendary literary figures such as Saul Bellow and by 1977 the book sold over 300,000
annually in the United States alone and by March 2006 six million copies were sold in the United States
and on January 16, 2006 Oprah Winfrey chose the book for her book club which sold one million extra
extra paperback and 150,000 hardcover copies carrying Oprah’s Book Club Logo on which was translated
